Troy is a 14-foot-long submarine designed to
look as much as possible like a Great White Shark, to watch Great White
Sharks underwater without disturbing them, since before this it was difficult
to observe them without attracting them to food. It has one crew, who lies
on his belly inside it. It is piloted by Fabien Cousteau. The submarine
was used to make a documentary to prove that great white sharks were not
mindless and dangerous animals.
It was inspired by the Adventures of Tintin comic
book story Le Trésor de Rackham le Rouge (published in English as
Red Rackham's Treasure) in which Tintin uses a shark-like submarine as
part of his search for the titular treasure.
Its name was taken from the idea of "Trojan horse". |
