Stand and Anti-Knockdown by Cliff Hanger back to Photos |
Re-Bar
Stand or cold rolled round
1. Vertical Upright. 3/4" diameter and 28" to 42" tall. If taller they tend to fall forward. 2. Base Leg. 3/4" diameter by 48" long bent in middle. Correct bend is 30" between ends. 3. Brace Leg. 5/8" diameter by 36" long bent in middle. Correct bend is about 20.5" between ends. After years of testing I have found that the brace leg is optional. The stands will hold up to all the shooting we do at Cajon. 100+ shooters, twice a month. The brace leg also seems to be the original of most of the splatter returning to the firing line. Target Plate
Stop
Base Leg is tack welded 4" up from bottom end at right angle to upright. Brace Leg is tack welded 16" up from bottom end of upright with Brace Leg ends in contact with Base Leg. May have to bend in or out to fit. Target Plate Stop is tack welded 3" from top end of Vertical Upright. Target Plate Stop is centered and to front of Upright or leg side of Upright. After all stands are tacked, go back and finish all joints with deep penetration and hot. Let air cool naturally. Rushing cooling will cause re-bar to become brittle. Anti Knockdown
Place stand on table for
easy access. Place pipe on bottom of Upright. Put anti-knockdown leg around
pipe. Elevate bend of leg to top of pipe with leg ends blocked 1" above
table top. Tack in place.
A stand 42" high with 12" square target plate will take hits from both barrels of 12 gauge at once at 15' or 45/70-405gr bullet with 70 grains black powder at 75'. |
